As the Pennsylvania state budget battle rages in Harrisburg, registered nurses at state hospitals are concerned not only for their jobs but for the future of the services that are provided to their patients.
From Warren to Norristown, registered nurses say that proposals to slash mental health and mental retardation services would adversely impact the patients who receive care.
On Wednesday, a handful of nurses at Norristown State Hospital gave out leaflets calling on state lawmakers to fully fund these services. Without that funding, RN Joseph Palermo (above) says, we can expect staffing cuts and some facilities may be forced to close:
