The leader of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance is calling members to action, after a budget agreement in Harrisburg plans to extend the state sales tax to cover cultural events like museums, zoos, and live artistic performances.
"Here's my message to Governor Rendell and the leaders of the legislature: 'What were you thinking?' "
Cultural Alliance president Peggy Amsterdam urged members to call state legislators over what she terms "a terrible public policy decision."
"Our members are not for profit, we're here to serve the community, so we have very slim margins."
