Local governments in the Philadelphia region have committed to a 25-year growth blueprint developed by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter (above) led the line of officials signing on for “Connections - The Regional Plan for a Sustainable Future,” which calls for preserving open space while making better use of available land, creating better communities where people can live and work, and improve energy efficiency and mass transit.
(Nutter:) "For most of us, you don’t stay in these positions forever. But the plans should pretty much stay in place. And they cannot change at the whim of whomever comes along next."
