Scott Mathieson was once one of the Phillies' top pitching prospects. Now he is proving to be their most resilient.
Mathieson had skyrocketed into the Phillies' rotation in 2006, at the tender age of 22. He pitched in nine games before he needed "Tommy John" surgery (ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction).
Since then he's gone under the knife two more times, including a second Tommy John procedure, but he is now back throwing for the club's AA team in Reading and eying a return to the show:
