Philadelphia City Council has decided, for now, not to hold hearings on Mayor Nutter's so-called "Plan C" budget that could slash many city services.
The mayor still hopes to avoid implementing this doomsday budget with approvals by state lawmakers that would allow him to balance the current spending plan. But he is required to submit his worst-case budget to Council and the state agency, PICA, which oversees city finances.
Council president Anna Verna now has decided to hold off on any hearings and forward the budget for now to Pica.
