Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell has signed into law a temporary budget that he says will allow state workers to be paid while the quest continues for a final budget.
On Wednesday morning Rendell signed something that he made clear does not in any way represent a final budget. It’s an $11-billion budget -– less than half of what the overall budget would be –- primarily for the purpose of paying state workers:
“But in addition to paying to paying our employees and our National Guardsmen, a small number of cases where lives are at stake or public safety is in immediate peril are also funded in this budget.”
