New Jersey’s unemployment rate in June hit a 31-year high of 9.2 percent. But state labor officials are suggesting that a couple of trends could be encouraging.
Although the Garden State still has the dubious distinction of leading the tri-state region on the jobless front, it trails the national number of 9.5 percent.
Economist James Moore is a deputy labor commissioner in New Jersey:
"Since the recession started we’ve seen decline in pretty much all industries. So it’s pretty much spread across all supersectors."
