At the same time that Congress was grappling with the concealed weapons issue, New Jersey was touting its yearlong cooperative effort with the feds to get illegal guns off the streets.
About 8,000 guns have been e-traced since the inception of the effort. Every weapon now seized by police is put through the program.
In Trenton on Wednesday, governor Jon Corzine -- while pleased with the results so far -- says he isn’t about to let up:
"We need to be able to trace guns to those who sell them, to people who put those guns in the hands of people who would commit violence."
