The Philadelphia Fire Department is rolling out a new public safety billboard campaign to tell residents how they can take steps now to protect themselves from the deadly consequences of fire.
Fire commissioner Lloyd Ayers mounted a cherry-picker atop Ladder 22 on Thursday to remove the black tarp covering the billboard erected at Noble Street near Delaware Avenue, in the Spring Garden section of the city.
The billboard shows Ayers, dressed in full fire gear and standing in front of a burning structure. "Don't let it happen to you" is the message emblazoned in red across the top of the billboard.
