Walk to Support Domestic Violence Awareness is Saturday, Along Schuylkill River

October is "Domestic Violence Awareness Month," with a walk against domestic violence being held on Saturday morning along Martin Luther King Drive in Fairmount Park.
The walk was organized by a local state senator who was once a victim.
Fourth District Pennsylvania state senator LeAnna Washington (right) says she had a black eye the day after she was married, and still suffers from injuries she received:
"It's called the Big Secret -- that's the name that I've given it."
She divorced her husband in 1972. Since then, she has advocated for more information, more help, and more legislative movement on the domestic violence front:
