Support Building for Center City-to-Riverfront Light Rail
by KYW's Mike Dunn
US senator Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) and Mayor Nutter have lent their support to a plan to build a half-billion-dollar light rail mass transit system in Philadelphia, connecting center city to the Delaware River waterfront.
At a meeting attended on Monday by Specter, Nutter, and congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-13th Dist.) among others, the Delaware River Port Authority presented a feasibility study on an above-ground light rail system that would make it easier to get around I-95 to the waterfront… and up and down Delaware Avenue.
