Just a couple days after Sunoco announced plans to suspend refining operations in Westville (Gloucester County), NJ, a nearby competitor is also announcing job cuts because of a downturn in demand for petroleum fuels.
About 400 people will be furloughed at Sunoco’s Eagle Point refinery. And now, Valero is looking for 100 people at their Paulsboro, NJ plant to take early retirement by the end of the year.
Company spokesman Bill Day says the offer is being made to the most senior of their 550-member staff:
