Monday night's come-from-behind Phillies' victory had special meaning to local homeless advocates, who were winners in the bet between the mayors of Philadelphia and Denver.
Because the Phillies won the series against the Rockies, Denver's mayor must send $2,000 to Project Home in Philadelphia. Co-founder Joan McConnon says the real benefit goes beyond the dollars:
"It means visibility to the broader public about homelessness. It raises the level of consciousness, which we're thrilled about."
