Pa. Lawmaker Hopes to Undo Phila. Gun Task Force Funding Cut

Pennsylvania state senator Anthony Williams has pledged to work to restore cuts to the successful Philadelphia Gun Task Force, whose budget was cut this past year from $5 million to $3 million.

Officials say the gun task force has made more than 400 arrests and recovered nearly 800 guns, including assault weapons that were on display (above) as Sen. Williams talked of restoring the cut funds and actually expanding the program elsewhere in Pennsylvania:

"The last time I checked, my local police officer, he or she, did not have the ability to fight somebody on the streets of Philadelphia with these armaments -- not one. What they are able to do through the work of this illegal (guns) task force is to get these armaments off the street before they attack another police officer, another senior citizen, another child."
