Phila. Police Officer Losing Job After Shooting Story Doesn't Add U

A 21-year veteran of the Philadelphia police force has been suspended with intent to dismiss. Police officials say he has admitting fabricating a story about a holdup in order to explain a gunshot wound of his shoulder.
Police commissioner Charles Ramsey says Sgt. Robert Ralston confessed about 4am Tuesday morning, during questioning by homicide detectives.
Ralston, 46, suffered a graze wound of the shoulder on April 5th. He originally told investigators that he had been approached by two men who tried to hold him up near 56th Street and Lancaster Avenue in West Philadelphia.
