Philadelphia Celebrates National Bike to Work Day Friday
by KYW's Steve Tawa
AccuWeather was calling for pleasant morning on Friday, so Mayor Nutter is asking people modify their commute as part of "National Bike to Work Day."
The mayor will lead by example and commute to City Hall, according to Breen Goodwin of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia:
"We will be meeting him at the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps at 7:30, and he'll be leading us to City Hall, where we end at Dilworth Plaza."
The ceremonial commute will take just minutes down the Ben Franklin Parkway, but Goodwin says the point is that cycling can put a smile on your face:
"What we're trying to encourage is trips that are under four miles. It's very feasible to ride a bike, and to be honest, it's one of the most fun ways to get from point A to point B."
