Mayor Nutter, Child Advocates Call Attention to Plight of Foster Children
May is National Foster Care Month, and a temporary display at the Shops at Liberty Place, in center city, urged the public to remember those children in the foster care system.
In the rotunda at the Liberty Place mall, mayor Michael Nutter (right) read a city proclamation making May "Foster Care Month" in the city of Philadelphia.
He stood in front of 100 life-sized cutouts representing children in the foster care system.
The "Forgotten Children" campaign by the Court Appointed Special Advocates is designed to raise awareness and money needed to recruit more CASA volunteers.
