Some Asian Students Return to South Phila. HS After Talks

A group of Asian students is slowing returning to South Philadelphia High School after staff and district officials guaranteed their safety.
The students (in file photo above) boycotted classes last week to call attention to racially charged violence at the school.
School district spokeswoman Evelyn Sample-Oates says that four more students returned to South Philly High when school opened on Tuesday. And she says more would have but were spooked by a large contingent of media outside.
Sample-Oates says she expects that all of the boycotting students -- about 50 of them -- will be back by the end of the week:
