Phila. Councilwoman Outraged at Handling of Cop Arrest

A Philadelphia city council member is furious that a former police officer was allowed to keep volunteering at a recreation center even as he was under investigation for raping a young girl.

Ninth District Councilwoman Marion Tasco has fired off an angry email to Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey about why the arrest of former officer Tyrone Wiggins on rape charges in November was never made known to the rec center's director. Wiggins continued to volunteer at the Olney Recreation Center, in Tasco's district, for several weeks after his arrest, until a reporter informed the director.
