At Tree Lighting Ceremony, Rendell Urges Holiday Generosity

Governor Ed Rendell urged Pennsylvanians on Wednesday to get into the spirit of giving as he presided over the annual capitol Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
"Three, two, one... (applause)”
With that, a 21-foot Douglas fir from Carbon County, Pa., festooned with energy-saving LED lights, came to life in the capitol rotunda.
Rendell (back to camera above) then urged Pennsylvanians to think of others during these difficult times:
“Get some of those Santa Claus letters from the post office, from families who have no means to give presents. Midge and I have done that the last three or four years, and it is amazing what the kids ask for. First and foremost, they ask for things for their mom or their grandmom.”
