Local Councilwoman Hosts Holiday Party for the Homeless

Philadelphia city councilwoman Jannie Blackwell hosted her annual Christmas party for the homeless at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Tuesday.
About 200 volunteers helped serve 4,000 dinners and gave out 2,000 donated gifts in the annual outpouring of generosity and fellowship that is Councilwoman Blackwell's Christmas party:
"People in Philadelphia care, and people will give if they know there's a need. And I'm always encouraged at days like this because it's overwhelming."
Blackwell moved to the Convention Center three years ago to accommodate the growing numbers that attend the party. Guests needn't be homeless, but many of them are -- or used to be:
