Philadelphia Plans Tax Amnesty Period for Those Who Owe
Philadelphia's cash-strapped government is going to stage a tax amnesty next spring in hopes of getting deadbeats to pay up.
But they're not expecting much.
Philadelphia is currently owed about $1 billion in back taxes, according to city revenue commissioner Keith Richardson, who says the Nutter administration now plans a 45-day tax amnesty starting next May 3rd:
"You would have to pay principal, and half of the interest that is owed."
The city will forgive the other half of the interest owed and all the penalties.
