Comcast Announces Deal to Buy Controlling Stake in NBC

Comcast announced on Thursday morning that it has purchased a controlling interest in NBC Universal. The deal makes the nation's largest cable TV provider one of the biggest owners of TV and movie programming.

KYW's Mike DeNardo reports that the deal creates an unprecedented marriage of programming and distribution.

Comcast would not only control a major cable pipeline, but the programming that flows through it.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts (right) says combining Comcast and NBC Universal creates a company that is "strategically complete." In a conference call, Comcast chief operating officer Steve Burke says there are no major changes planned for the company's headquarters:
