Ruth Arnao, a top aide to former Pennsylvania state senator Vincent Fumo, was set to be in federal court on Tuesday for a sentencing hearing.
Arnao, 52 (above), admits that she looked at her former boss as a mentor and a friend. And she says in a court filing that her blind loyalty to Fumo led her to commit the wrongdoing for which she has been convicted -- 45 counts of fraud, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice.
Some two dozen letters submitted to the court by Arnao’s friends say it was her misguided devotion to Fumo which governed her actions, including running a nonprofit group which prosecutors claim she and Fumo looted for personal expenses.
