Pennsylvania is about to begin the fourth week of the fiscal year without a budget and the two sides still far apart.
The Republican-controlled state Senate on Monday took a budget bill sent over from the House on Friday, gutted it, and replaced it with an amendment that cuts spending and involves no new taxes. Chester Republican Dominic Pileggi is the majority leader of the Senate:
“Unfortunately, the governor has refused to discuss a budget without his massive tax increases, and we simply cannot agree to such a budget.”
