The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Pennsylvania stood at 17 as of Monday afternoon, up from 10 over the weekend.
Three of the newest confirmed cases are in Philadelphia, which now has a total of five. Previously, there were two confirmed cases each in Bucks and Montgomery counties, and one in Chester County.
A state health department spokeswoman is reiterating that the jump in the numbers has to do with the fact that the CDC is now catching up on a backlog of tests, and more results are coming in.
