A longtime member of the Board of Revision of Taxes was shown the door Thursday, following a report from Philadelphia's inspector general which found that he tried to manipulate a property assessment to benefit then state Senator Vince Fumo.
An investigation by inspector General Amy Kurland concludes that BRT board member Joseph Russo ordered an increase in the property value of a building in order to help Fumo's chances of acquiring the property.
Kurland says this violates the basic precepts of the BRT, which prohibit the manipulation of property values.
