Firefighters from Pennsylvania and Delaware, pairing with Sunoco crews, took several hours to control a fire after an explosion late Sunday night in a chemical building in Sunoco’s Marcus Hook plant.
The explosion happened on the Delaware side of the facility in a building where Ethylene is produced. That’s used to make plastics. Corporal Jeff Whitmarsh with the Delaware State Police:
"Everything is contained on site. Nothing has left the site. As this stuff burns, it kind of dissipates in the air."
