Representative Kenyatta Johnson,
House Of Representatives
Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania, D.,186
I am doing my regular report card check on new and veteran local public servants. There are many PA State Reps, true, but when it comes to which are serving Philly, PA Kenyatta Johnson is the ultimate source of State Representative ideas. The government sets aside sanctuaries for birds and animals. Rep. Kenyatta wants the State of PA to do the same for Philadelphia children and their own families. That’s a grade A-plus.
Philadelphia’s youthful newly elected State Representative, Kenyatta Johnson, PA, State House, 186, Democrat, has taken his skills and put together an office to get a new generation of voters into the much needed urban city process of understanding legislature. Rep. Kenyatta defeated the incumbent for the sole purpose to represent healthy children and a healthy environment in Philly.
Rep. Kenyatta’s goals are to establish a Public Safety Liaison to serve as an intermediary between the Philadelphia Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, Family Court, and the Department of Probation and Parole and the Philadelphia Gun Court to address the issue of crime and juvenile delinquency. Rep. Johnson wants a person in place that will also serve as the point person for the Second Chance Clinic that will assist ex-offenders returning to our communities.
In his first year in office Rep. Johnson would like to accomplish Gun Free Playground Zones which increase penalties for gun offenses which take place within 10 feet of public playgrounds. Rep. Kenyatta promises to deliver the Brighter Day Community Lights Initiative which seeks to provide funding for providing lights throughout the community which serves as a key deterrent to crime. He is working on increasing funding for programs that will help stabilize the community in a similar way the Adolescent Violence Reduction Program had done using Case Managers to assist troubled youth.
Rep. Kenyatta sees a future for visible and working State Representatives in the Philadelphia region. And he is creating what I call smart progress now.
Kenyatta Johnson, a native of the Point Breeze section of South Philadelphia, completed the Governing for Non-Profit Excellence program, and the Harvard University School of Business. He is also an alumni of the University of Pennsylvania. Interestingly, Kenyatta is trying to change the meaning of Philadelphia politics. He is very much interested in emphasizing green-efficient technology, media, and safety. And preparing Philadelphia for the understanding of the worldwide demand for wind, hydro, solar and fuel cell production is a key interest to Rep. Johnson.
State Rep. Kenyatta Johnson has the know-how to completely fulfill the position of a public office. He has participated as a legislative aide for youth development/community outreach, safer neighborhoods projects, access to employment planning. He has also pushed for quality education, and worked with homeownership opportunities programming. Rep. Johnson has a good ear for positive discussion of the issues dealing with reforms for a better urban community.
Rep. Kenyatta has a strong ability to speak to not only his own generation, but the very young generation that is jumping into politics. So far, I am incredibly impressed with State Rep. Kenyatta’s advancements for the neighborhoods he serves and the State of Pennsylvania as a whole. I can only admire a real representative that is needed to help deal with issues in tough areas of Philly such as parts of Southwest Philadelphia, South Philadelphia and other parts of Philadelphia County.
