As expected, the Pennsylvania House has rejected an alternative Republican no-tax hike proposal -- paving the way for a final House vote on a Democratic budget bill Friday.
House Democrats, including majority leader Todd Eachus, argued that the Republican budget proposal relied on one-time revenue fixes and cut programs too deeply, putting the burden on local governments:
“This amendment will create a rise in school property taxes -- a tax shift.”
