Local Free Daily Newspaper Says Shutdown is Temporary

Regular readers of Philadelphia's free Metro newspaper were probably wondering why there were no editions available on Monday or Tuesday.
But a local official says any talk of the paper's demise is greatly exaggerated.
Metro honor boxes (above) have been empty for two days. And with the newspaper industry struggling, Metro readers at at least one SEPTA stop were openly wondering if the paper had seen its last days.
Not so. Jim McDonald, who runs the Philadelphia office of Metro, says the paper is just on an extended holiday:
