Pennsylvania state senator Anthony Williams (D-Phila.) says he’s thinking about jumping into the race for governor.
Williams says that with fellow Philadelphian Tom Knox out of the race (see related story), he wants to be sure there’s a candidate that represents certain key issues, including the economic problems in Philadelphia and the state:
“Twenty-three percent of the people in Philadelphia are on food stamps. Philadelphia is the fifth largest city, it is either third or seventh, depending upon what you look at, in terms of poverty, being the poorest cities in the country. That is dragging down its economy, that is dragging down the state.”
