City Talks Funding With Ethnic Parade Organizers

Organizers of six ethnic parades in Philadelphia were scheduled to meet on Monday with Nutter administration officials about whether the mayor will be chipping in to help defray the costs of this year's parades.
The budget crisis last year prompted Mayor Nutter to end the long tradition of the city picking up the tab for parades, including six smaller ethnic parades like those marking St. Patrick's Day and Columbus Day.
City councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez was spearheading Monday's meeting between parade organizers and officials with the administration:
"They have assured that they are going to make a presentation that will make the parade officials happy."
