Off Duty Cop Shot Outside W. Phila. Movie Theater
by KYW's Pat Loeb
Police are looking for a gunman who shot an off-duty state capital police officer and a student at a West Philadelphia movie theater, Friday night.
The officer was attempting to stop a robbery when the gunman fired.
Deputy Inspector Kevin Bethel says the officer was just trying to enjoy his Friday night when he walked into The Bridge Movie Theater at 40th and Walnut Streets:
“When he entered the property he apparently interrupted a robbery in progress. When he identified to the male that he was a police officer off-duty, the male turns around and fires twice.”
