Bicycling Advocates Blast Proposal for Mandatory Bike Plates in Phila.

As we first reported on Wednesday, Philadelphia City Council is considering mandatory bicycle registration in Philadelphia, in the wake of two pedestrian deaths.
The measure was formally introduced on Thursday, and bicycle advocates showed up to voice disapproval.
Among those attending the City Council meeting was Sarah Clark Stuart of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, who said the current laws on the books -- if only they were enforced -- would be enough to rein in cyclists who ignore the law:
