A hostage situation is going on in the Bronx.A father holding two young boys hostage barricaded himself inside an apartment.
The standoff started this morning. The man is getting divorced from the boys mother. One of the boys has been released.
It's happening on Creston avenue in the University Heights section.
Police say 27-year-old Camilo Mejias is the man that has been sticking his head outside the window talking to heavily armed police officers.
Inside that apartment along with Mejias was his wife's 10-year-old boy Francisco, and his child with her infant Mathew.
Leonardo Espinal is the boys grandfather, and he says Mejias is crazy and uses drugs.
Rosmary Espinal is the boys mother. She's been in a police car for hours, ever since her sister told us Mejias pushed his way into her apartment.
Earlier Friday, the ESU team moved in with sheilds up, guns drawn, and within minutes 10-year-old Francisco is released.
The couple has been separated for months now and Rosmary has an order of protection against Mejias.
Her sister says whatever problems they had, this was unexpected.
So for now one boy is safe and one, and an 11-month is still inside with a man who's intentions are not clear to anyone.
