Center City Workers Wear Sneakers to Help Homeless
by KYW's Paul Kurtz
In Center City, many people wore sneakers to the office Friday. They dressed down to help the homeless.
Members of the non-profit "back on my feet" set up a table and solicited workers in the shadows of office towers at 20th and Market. The annual fundraiser encourages contributors to donate at least $5 and wear sneakers to work to symbolically support the program that encourages those living in homeless shelters to take part in a three-day a week running program. Back on my feet's Maureen O'Toole says the carrot for those who participate is a grant that helps them get back on their feet.
