Ceremonies were held Wednesday at a Chester, Pa. church, and later at a memorial in Rose Tree Park, to honor the three dozen Delaware County police officers who gave their lives in the line of duty over the course of a century.
From Chester officer Mark Allen (killed in 1902) to Upper Darby officer Dennis McNamara (killed in 2002), each was honored with a patrol hat (right) laid at his or her plaque.
Together, those plaques form a circle that stands as a constant tribute to the price those officers paid.
