Why State Rep. Blackwell Can Run Still; SCOOP/WVSR-AM Mobile Internet
by Van Stone vspfoundation@yahoo.com (215) 747-8746
State Representative Tommy Blackwell. Highly most likely supporters of State Rep. Blackwell will see his name on the Ballot come November, election in Philadelphia, PA, for State Rep. 190th District. The 2 term incumbent has served Philadelphia in its' 4 congressional districts smooth until this year. In 2008 Rep. Blackwell will run an exposition of his views about this years election sometime before his constituents and the larger media.
Philadelphia was once split between six congressional districts. However, as a result of the city's declining population, it is now split between four -the 1st, represented by Bob Brady, the 2nd, represented by Chaka Fattah, the 8th, represented by Patrick Murphy, and the 13th, represented by Allyson Schwartz. All four are Democrats; a Republican has not represented a significant portion of Philadelphia since the 1950s. And then there is Thomas W. Blackwell, IV, 190th District, State Representative. You read it correct here. Blackwell is not a congressman but as a politician he has been representing the improvement of the congressional districts split for the last 4 years now. Many folks want to know why it is that Rep. Blackwell can run still during the 2008 state of PA House of Representatives although the highest Philadelphia Justices have ordered him off of the ballot. As I told you -the last time we looked at this incumbent candidate he was challenged dealing with the process of having a valid amount of signatures needed to be on the ballot- I would ask the board of elections is this the sad fate of Rep. Blackwell?
Any candidate for political office during an election does not have to run as a candidate of choice for an official political party. Blackwell, recognized as a Democratic Party candidate, can run for the seat of State Rep. representing the Body of Thomas Blackwell, The Green Party, or the Constitution Party if he finds himself in a situation where he has been thrown off of the ballot as a Democratic Party candidate. Blackwell can even run as what is called a write in candidate. While I have yet to speak with Rep. Blackwell, everyone that knows me personally knows that Rep. Blackwell is my candidate of choice. I don’t hide it. Why should I? And Although I can’t possibly vote for him in the election because I don’t live in his district I’m taking a big guess that Rep. Blackwell will take a play book route from one of the 3 above choices left to remain in the election come this November. So, don’t presume anything in politics just because a judge steps in and say, you’re off. But can anyone else become a candidate, win the seat, and then resign making Rep. Blackwell the winner in an agreement by which two people profit or gain something, sometimes secretly? The reason why I ask this question here is because I must remind the readers that I got a phone call asking me would this be possible and would doing so be illegal or legal. The answer to the caller and you the supporters of Blackwell or not is this.
The word illegal shouldn’t even come up in this situation. Why? Because it simply put, it can’t be done in the first place. If you run for office the Board of Elections must get official notice that you are running and you alone. Secondly, say if, you were to win and then you die, or are no longer the winner due to whatever reason, the seated politicians are the ones that decide if they want another person in the seat. If they say we want another person in the seat, there must be a new swift election for that seat. And the ballot stuff starts all over again. You know, the stuff that got Rep. Blackwell in this situation in, the first place. Or, they can leave the seat empty for the full term of the office. That’s it then, regardless of whether you like it or not, Rep. Blackwell can say still that he is in the hunt for the seat of State Rep. and he doesn’t have to make it publicly known to any challengers. All he has to do is prepare the Board of Elections for what he seeking, a third term as State Representative. Well, speaking of preparation. SCOOP newspaper in association with the new Internet Radio Station WVSR 1360.1 AM is preparing it’s readership and listenership for what is known as mobile Internet. We know that everyone just can’t possibly keep up with all of the gadgets. So, we have something for you.
Starting this week, SCOOP online and Philly WVSR Internet Radio, representing AM radio, is helping all those that are just not caught up with using computers and the Internet to listen to the radio using a telephone. If you can get to a cell phone or house phone (Land Line is called by Internet language people) you can now be the first with thousands of Philadelphians that are using the internet by telephone and you don’t ever have to have learned how to use your computer.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM, you can dial (646) 595-4215 and hear Live talk radio programming with a few SCOOP personalities OnAir talking about your interest. And if you want to be a guest caller to speak on the topics at hand you’ll be able to do so along with the radio family those days. But, if you just want to enjoy clean radio, yeah, even the kids can call in and listen, on Mondays through Sundays, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, dial (347) 945-6787. All experienced Internet folks can just visit www.wvsr1360.com and click on LISTEN LIVE and SCOOP radio is yours. Don’t forget to read the scoop online at: www.scoopusanewspaper.com.
