Police Athletic League Students Spend Day as City Officials
Twenty five young people, Police Athletic League students, spent the day shadowing senior level city of Philadelphia officials, including the mayor, district attorney and police commissioner.
City Solicitor Shelley Smith administered the oath to the Pal center youths, recognized for their academics and community service:
"I do solemnly swear..."
Among them, Kristen Thomas (third from left), a star track athlete, captain of the team at Hallahan High School, and DA for a day:
"I hope to learn about the legal system on a more personal level, and I think it'll be a wonderful experience."
