Phila. Fire Department Dispatcher Gets Award for Excellence

On Thursday, during National Safety Telecommunicators Week, a Philadelphia Fire Department dispatcher was given a special award for excellence in his field.
Matthew Schoeniger has worked in the fire department's communications center for only two years, but sergeant Greg Massi thinks he is a rising star:
"People such as Matt, they are going to take that call and they are going to put themselves on the scene, whether to instruct someone to do lifesaving CPR or tell someone trapped in a high-rise fire whether to evacuate or shelter in place."
