There were heated moments in Philadelphia City Council on Tuesday as district attorney Lynne Abraham lashed out at Mayor Nutter's proposal to cut her office's budget by $7 million -- a reduction that she says will be "disastrous."
DA Abraham (in file photo above) told councilmembers that the mayor's budget would force her to lay off 100 prosecutors, which she says would lead to longer waits for trials and some defendants ultimately going free.
The mayor's public safety czar, Everett Gillison, said the DA could get a chunk of $13 million in federal grant money to make up the shortfall.
