Pennsylvania Governor Rendell says the state’s economic woes will make it even harder than usual to enact gun control legislation before lawmakers’ summer recess.
Shortly after the slaying of three Pittsburgh police officers, Governor Rendell renewed his efforts to enact gun control legislation, sending a letter to lawmakers appealing for action on bills that would require the reporting of lost and stolen handguns and would allow local municipalities to enact their own gun laws. Getting legislation like that passed in Pennsylvania anytime soon would be difficult even without a recession, but, the governor says:
