AM Radio's Ken Houston; There are 2 Black Owned Radio Stations In Philly Now
by Van Stone vspfoundation@yahoo.com (215) 747-87476
Above: Cell Phone Case Craft Activities by Ken Houston, WNWR, Technically Speaking. Houston believes that there is a culture of people who are attached to their hand held electronic devices and they would appreciate options of securing their treasure next to themselves.
AM was the dominant way of broadcasting during the first eighty years of the 20th century and remains widely used into the 21st. AM broadcasting now attracts mainly talk radio and news programming, while music radio mostly shifted to FM broadcasting especially in the late 1960s and 1970s. But the reemergence of FM Vs AM competition is building once again as AM being the lead radio-dial due to Ken Houston, broadcaster.
Kenneth E. Houston, PR, Director, Technically Speaking Radio, WNWR -- 1540 AM 200 Monument Road, Suite 6, Bala Cynwyd, PA has more than 20 years of experience as a craft activities trainer and radio facilitator. Kenneth E. Houston leads a private consulting firm that specialized in designing and implementing programs that include peer mediation; conflict management; leadership skills development; as well as adventure-based learning.
As a facilitator, Mr. Houston assisted the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection with a complex multi-stakeholder consensus-building project. Numerous state and federal agencies, corporations, and private residents have reviewed the project's final consensus document, the 2001 Environmental Justice Work Group Report.
Until May of 1999, Mr. Houston was the Director of the Woodrock Training Center, a youth-service agency (non-profit organization) that focused on diversity education. Taking a hands on approach as director, he provided direct supervision of the development and execution of the outdoor adventure-based programs that enhance social interaction, self-confidence, self-esteem, trust, team building and problem solving skills.
As a youth, Ken, used leather craft activities when there were few alternative for youths in his depressed neighborhood. Ken would reconstruct old leather accessories into wrist bands, coin pouches for himself and his friends. Throughout his life, Ken has continued to develop his leather skills. When AM listeners call his show, Ken, a Co-host, also talks about making leather accessories, shoulder bags, watch and wrist bands, belts billfolds, and small cases himself for family, friends and clientele. "I especially like designing and constructing small items like cell phones and pouches that attached to belts," says Houston. Ken's cell phone cases make it very easy for users to be fashionable and on the air at the same time.
Throughout his career, Mr. Houston has worked with diverse groups including community organizations, government agencies, and corporate and large nonprofit groups in various settings. He has facilitated a host of programs for an impressive list of clients; including but not limited to, Pax Christi USA, School District of Philadelphia and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Department of Youth Activities. Esty.com has Houston's cell phone cases. Type in "casesbyken" to see them or phone (215) 892-5005.
