Fireworks importer charged with English firefighter deaths

LONDON, Jun 9, 2008 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The owner of a fireworks company in England and his son have been charged with the death of two firefighters who died battling an explosion at his factory.
Marin Winter, 50, of Alpha Fireworks Ltd, and his son Nathan, 23, were each charged with two counts of manslaughter after being arrested in February, Sky News reported Monday.
Firefighters Geoff Wicker, 49, and Brian Wembridge, 63, died in the East Sussex factory Dec. 3, 2006.
Twelve others were injured in the fire, including nine members of East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, the British news network reported.
Martin Winter and his son are to appear at Lewes Magistrates' Court on June 18. Their company is one of the largest fireworks importers in Britain.
