“My fondest memories as a child at Christmas were coming downstairs to find a bike under the tree.” Tim recalls. That is what motivated Timothy Davenport, Chairman of the Children’s Outreach Committee at Light of Elmwood Lodge #45 to request that the brothers in his lodge donate 50 bikes for their annual Christmas Party. The brothers of Light of Elmwood came through with over 65 bikes.
Light of Elmwood Lodge #45’s Christmas Party, which was on Saturday, December 15th, reached out to families at St. Barnabus’ Shelter and The Kirkbride Shelter. The Christmas Party is also open to the general public free of charge. There were appearances by Santa, Rainbow the Clown, and DJ Special K. Lunch was provided and toys were given to all of the children.
Mr. Davenport states, “We here at Light of Elmwood have a strong commitment to children and the community. I applaud the efforts of all the brothers who donated bikes, and those who came out to make this event a success. I would also like to thank Karla Hilliard, Robyn Paschall, Jasmine Austin, Kearston Austin, and Tracey Austin for their dedication and support for this event.
Light of Elmwood also sponsors Fun Day, an event given by the lodge to celebrate the summer and family. Fun Day is also open to the general public without charge.
