KYW -A Philadelphia pet care company is taking every step to meet clients' needs. And it's a booming business.
Philapets.com is now in its fourth year and is now one of Philadelphia's largest pet-sitting services. The company grossed about $650,000 last year, taking care of dogs, cats, birds, fish -- even a millipede (right).
Deirdre Weissman (top right) owns Philapets with her husband Zeth (top center, with their dog Ginger). What does a sitter do for an arthropod?
"Maybe talk to the millipede. Even though it may seem crazy, we make it seem like the owners never left. So we do whatever the owner wants us to."
They even have veterinary technicians on staff. And a new service is being offered: Philapets teamed up with dog-running specialist Rebecca Davis (top left), a marathoner who runs with your dogs for an hour at $40 a pup.
"There's a ton of benefits: weight loss, it really helps with behavior, helps get rid of excess energy."
