Family Of 5 Found Dead In Submerged Car
A family from Hamilton, Ohio, was found dead in their car in Gallatin County on Thursday night in what one trooper called a "horrific" incident.
Investigators said the car was discovered in Eagle Creek along Highway 467 outside of Sparta.
Investigators could not say how long the car had been in the water, and they did not immediately release the identities of the victims.
The victims were members of a Hamilton family who were last seen Dec. 27, when they drove to Sanders, Ky., where they planned to move, the television station reported.
A relative had reported Glen and Kelly Johnson and their children missing to Hamilton police, but the relative accused detectives of dragging their feet in the investigation.
In addition to the couple's three children, Sevin, 5, Mckinzye, 2, and 19-month-old Mya, Kelly Johnson was due to give birth in May to a fourth child, according to the relative.
In the area where the car was found, the road passes under a railway bridge, then turns sharply to the left. A car going straight instead of turning left would end up in the creek under a small waterfall.
Video from the scene showed no guardrail between the road and the creek, the television station reported.
State police said they don't suspect any foul play in the deaths.
