Thinking on life I wonder what has become of us
I never knew that things would turn around and be so luminous
Conversations so filled with sonnets filled with color
Not realizing that all we had to do was uncover
To be naked in each others embrace
Standing vulnerable to one another face to face
Is that too much to ask?
Too much to hope for?
Or are we eagles gliding through the air as we soar?
Can two co-exist as one?
We can do all things for there is nothing new under the sun
But this here and now is too great for what is to come
My love for you out weighs the fear that is deep within
Sometimes I wonder if loving you this magnanimously is a sin
In your presence brings butterflies to my belly
When I hear your voice my knees turn to jelly
The blackness of your eyes are like deep caverns under the ocean blue
And yet they are as innocent as a fledgling youth
Can I be so open to you that I can’t see?
That you may not yet be trustworthy?
Do I want you so that I can’t even hide?
From the on-lookers, the gossipers, the unrelenting spies?
They seek out our blood; they want to hear our breath
They want to know what’s happening and what hasn’t happened yet.
Can our love withstand the fishbowl life we live?
Or can we love in private and escape the tempters give?
I can tell you this that I am committed to loving you
Whatever that may mean
Giving you all that is me and nothing in between
To choose this life is a crying shame
filled with paparazzi and photographers came
But I believe our love cannot be tamed
Nor will it summon to that of the false lips of others
I am willing to take the time to discover
That hidden place of my lover
That wink, that smile, that beckons me all the while
In public I am known but in the bedroom we have found a home
Our nuptials grace the media when
We decide to let the folks in
If this can happen, if this is true
Then I will know forever that I am in love with you
