The Committee of 70, Philadelphia's political watchdog group, says the city's cash crisis is the perfect opportunity to dismantle four elected offices that the groups says is prone to patronage.
In a report titled "Needless Jobs," the Committee of 70 calls for the eliminated of six elected positions at four offices: city commissioners, sheriff, clerk of quarter sessions and register of wills, all of which the committee says have a history of patronage and nepotism.
